Dr. Ashlee Shaw serves as the Associate Director for the Scholars Institute Fellows Program in ODOC’s Office of Programs for Access and Inclusion. In this role, Dr. Shaw creates, implements, and manages programs and initiatives within the Office of the Dean of the College that support and advance Princeton's commitment to an inclusive student body. In particular, she administers and helps set a strategic vision for the Freshman Scholars Institute, an academically rigorous, multi-disciplinary seven-week program for entering Princeton students and the Scholars Institute Fellows Program, a four-year mentorship program for first-generation, lower-income, and underrepresented Princeton students. She collaborates with faculty and staff from across the University to provide high-touch mentorship, programming, and supplemental advising for program participants and other first-generation, lower-income, and historically underrepresented students at Princeton. Dr. Ashlee Shaw joined ODOC’s Programs for Access and Inclusion in September 2018. She comes to the University from Rutgers University-Newark, where she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Molecular and Behavioral Neuroscience and the Associate Director for the Rutgers University-Newark African-American Brain Health Initiative (AABHI). As part of the AABHI, Ashlee led community-engaged research, education, and outreach initiatives that aimed to mitigate the high incidence of cognitive decline in the African American communities of the Greater Newark, NJ area. In addition to her research at Rutgers University-Newark, Ashlee also served as an instructor and mentor in STEM outreach with the Rutgers University-Newark RU Ready for Work program. She is deeply passionate about diversity and inclusion, and is eager to advance this work on Princeton’s campus.
